MARC's 12th
Annual Business Advisory Council Breakfast and Awards Celebration was
held recently at Middlesex Community College. The guest
speaker was Scott Haney, Channel 3 WFSB meteorologist,
featured here with Amy Meckensturm, School Transition
Coordinator and Job Developer at MARC, who chaired this
event. MARC honors businesses and schools that work
with people with disabilities and honors outstanding employees,
teachers and students every year. |

The Community
Renewal Team's Meals on Wheels service received the Group-Supported
Employer of the Year Award. Receiving the award is Phyllis
Pollack, Director of the Middlesex Nutrition Program. Phyllis
is pleased with the reliability of the MARC crew and is currently
working on adding two more routes in the Middlefield and Cromwell
areas to existing routes. |

James Carta,
Job Developer at MARC, presents Sharon Shuttleworth from Aramark
Corporation, Wesleyan Dining Services, with the Individual
Placement Employer of the Year Award. Jeff Footit, unable
to attend the event due to a previous commitment, received
the Employee of the Year Award for the Individual Placement
and has worked for Aramark since 1996. Jeff has
developed many positive and meaningful relationships at Aramark
and he always give 100% of himself. Sharon has been a
constant advocate for people with disabilities and Aramark
has generously contributed to all of MARC's fund raisers. |

were also honored. Ruby Jackson, Dave Latronica and
Annetta Wright were presented with Awards of
Appreciation by Lou Alperowitz, Vice President of MARC's
Vocational and Leisure Services, for making each student's unique
experience in the community a meaningful one. |
