Individual Day Options Program

Independence is all about making choices.
--Opportunities make choices possible.
--That's what the Individual Options Program is all about. Making opportunities both available and accessible, while offering the support and encouragement to make them happen. Participants choose what they want. We provide the means.
--The choices are many. Skill development training. Computer technology. Daily living skills. Community participation. Work options. Volunteer options. Work assessments. The kind of choices that lead to feelings of independence.

Community Participation

Community doors are opened through careful planning and preparations.
--When needed, we start with the basics, like learning about monetary transactions, appropriate social behavior, communication and self-awareness. Music and dance appreciation are weekly activities.
--Outings are planned to accommodate choices. Routine outings include such activities as bowling, movies and mini golf. Special seasonal trips include Mystic Aquarium, Bristol Carousel Museum, New Britain Museum of Natural History, Gillette's Castle, the Berlin Fair, and the Wadsworth Atheneum.
--To encourage our participants to responsibly take their places as vital members of their communities, volunteer activities are available for such programs as Meals-on-Wheels, assisting with Seniors Bingo in Middletown, Hungerford Park and Wethersfield Nature Center.

Seniors Programs - Opportunities for Older Adults

Older citizens are not forgotten at MARC. Their choices and involvement are an important part of what we offer. Our programs are actively involved with the senior centers of Portland, Middletown, and Cromwell. There, participants can connect with people of their own age and enjoy numerous activities such as lunch together, yoga, low impact exercise, and bingo, to name a few. Shopping trips, going to restaurants, visiting state parks, and weekly bowling, are just a few of the recreational activities. Seasonal programs are also available. Volunteer opportunities abound.
